mn-bike-300The big names are getting on board for Australia’s ultimate mountain bike experience in the Snowy Mountains in 2015 including two of Australia’s best with Andy Blair & Jenny Fay ready to challenge four stages across two days in rugged mountain terrain in the hunt for a huge $10,000 prize purse.

Andy Blair and Jenny Fay are two of Australia’s biggest names in mountain biking and they are set to tackle the inaugural 2015 Snowies Mountain Bike Festival in February 2015.

Andy is the reigning Australian Marathon Champion and has represented Australia at both the 2014 Commonwealth Games and at the World Marathon Championships in Pietermaritzburg this year.

Jenny is a former Irish National Champion and has won the Australian XCM National Champs in 2014, 2013 and 2011.  She has also won the Irish XCM Championship in 2013 and represented Ireland in the World XCM Championships.

Andy said he is very familiar with the Snowy Mountains and has already had a ride of the course and provided invaluable input to the format of the events.

“Despite a calendar seemingly saturated with races, The Snowies MTB Festival definitely managed to attract my interest. It is a four stage, two day race that is a showcase of the amazing trails and scenery of the Thredbo Valley,” Andy said.

“With the recent opening of the Thredbo Valley Trail (TVT) which has become an instant alpine icon, and with the support of the National Parks & Wildlife Service, we lucky riders have the opportunity to race it in the inaugural event…..both up and down! But that’s not all, combine that with a 5km prologue and a 75km marathon around the established and much loved Lake Crackenback Resort trails, you have all the makings of a fun weekend in a beautiful part of the world. What more could you want?”

The Snowies Mountain Bike Festival is proud to welcome such elite riders as Andy and Jenny.

Race Director Simon Lazenby said: “It is a real privilege to be able to offer up two days of such spectacular racing in this amazing new venue that will challenge, enthral and seduce both elite and recreational riders alike.  To have such high calibre riders as Andy Blair and Jenny Fay at the inaugural event is a real honour.”

The Snowies Mountain Bike Festival will take place in the Snowy Mountains, NSW on 21st & 22nd February, 2015.  It includes four stages across two days and boasts a $10,000 Prize Pool.  Riders can tackle the event solo, or share the riding with a team of 2 or 3.

The Snowies Mountain Bike Festival is proudly supported by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW.
